Embedded Software Engineer/ Systems Engineer Forage Equipment (M/F)
(fulltime, location Maassluis (NL) and Wolfenbüttel (DU))
The function:
You’re responsible for the development and maintenance of the embedded software of the Forage Solutions within Welger/Lely. The Embedded Software/Systems Engineer's primary responsibilities will be the developing, integrating, testing, and debugging application firmware for Lely/Welger machine control systems. This role will also provide support and guidance to production and dealership technical personnel in regards to new product launches and technical issues as they relate to existing machines and software issues.
Main tasks:
- To integrate, from a systems point of view, the functional needs with the hardware and the electronics;
- Designing the control software;
- Implementation of the embedded control software;
- Setting up test protocols, in co-operation with the test department;
- Support other engineering groups, production, suppliers, safety, sales, service, etc. in order to provide engineering related information to meet project goal assigned;
- Support the Service Department including service trips as designated by the Engineering Manager;
Your background:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Engineering, Electronics, or Machine Control;
- Master of Science Degree is preferred;
- Ability to proficiently apply machine control system knowledge to the following which include, but are not limited to, engineering processes, C++ language programming, and electronic hardware design;
- Knowledge in the areas of electronic circuits, microcontroller architectures, principles of operation, control system theory and applications;
- Preferred knowledge in Can and J1939;
- 3-5 years experience with Embedded C/C++ language programming. Preferred experience with electronic hardware design, PCB, assembly, C++ language, and embedded control system design of off road vehicles;
- Experience with a different microcontrollers. preferably Infineon C166, PowerPC 51xx/52xx, ARM V7;
- Knowledge of networking and bus protocols, a.o. CAN, Ethernet;
- Experience with real time OS systems;
- Used to tools like Windriver, Subversion and methods like Scrum.
Other skills:
- Demonstration of good oral and written communication skills;
- High skills (oral and written) in English and German language;
- Experience in forage machinery is an advantage;
- Ability of maintaining positive interpersonal relationships which encourage openness with customers and peers;
- Ability to produce accurate, professional and error-free documents in a timely manner;
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks while supporting the department;
- Ability to effectively manage time and resources;
- Ability to provide informative and professional assistance when working with the public/customers and co-workers.
